Making Jewelry

Custom jewelry can be made at home or found in stores. This is about how anyone can make their own custom jewelry to earn income or make it just for fun.

Must Have Supplies for Jewelry Making

I wanted to list some items that you would need if you were interested in making your own jewelry.  Some of these are everyday items and tools, and you will be able to pick them up at most major stores and some need to be ordered.  But without them, I wouldn't be able to make my jewelry.  Of, course there is a lot of fancy equipment you can get pulled into, but the necessities are below:

I didn't have a lot of money to start out with, like a lot of people, I'm sure.  So here is a list of the tools and supplies that you need to succeed in custom jewelry making:
  • Jewelry Design Kit:

Jewelry Tool Kit Includes (from top left to right) Curved Needle
Nose Pliers, Round Nose Pliers, Reg. Needle Nose Pliers,
Crimping Tool, Sharpie Fine Point Marker, Pair of Small Scissors,
Bead Borer Tool, Wire Cutter, Hemostat and a Jewelry File.
  • Jewelry Wire
You can get this jewelry wire at any major shopping mart or craft store.
It is a favorite of mine since I started beading jewelry.  This bead wire
is coated and will not tarnish.  It is very strong and resilient,
and for those that wear their jewelry often, it's the only choice.

  • Multi-Strand Bead Design Board
This bead design board is a must for jewelry making.
Symmetrical design layout can be accomplished
without the beads getting lost or out of order.
  • Lidded Bead Organizer Trays
Bead organizers help keep your beads and supplies at hand.

Lids are key for bead organizers, so beads do not get mixed
together.  Organizers also help to make your jewelry making
supplies mobile, which is helpful for busy beaders.
