Traditionally, earrings are worn as adornment or to accessorize an outfit. However, in the past, earrings held more significance. Earrings were worn as a sign of a traveler that had been around the world...literally. Or, for example, the reason that pirates wore one gold earring was in case of their untimely demise. In that event, the earring could be sold to offer a proper burial to the unfortunate seafarer. Earrings were also worn by soldiers in certain armies to denote rank or placement. Through the ages, earrings have reached the mainstream in a resurgence of popularity and there are several areas of the body that are pierced regularly in today's society, but the ear is still a very popular choice to pierce. I have made several custom earrings of different shapes, sizes and colors.
